Imlek and Isra Miraj Holidays, Visitor Numbers at Gembira Loka Zoo Yogyakarta Increase by 2 Times
(Yogyakarta, Indonesia) - The long holidays of Imlek and Isra Miraj have brought a surge of visitors to the Gembira Loka Zoo Yogyakarta, with the number of visitors increasing by 2 times. The majority of the visitors are families with children, who come to enjoy the various attractions and educational activities offered by the zoo.
One of the visitors, Rani from Magelang, said that she brought her child to the zoo to introduce them to the animals and learn about their behavior. "My child's response was very good, they were excited to interact with the animals and see the tame animals up close. This is our second visit to Gembira Loka, and we always make it a point to visit whenever we come to Yogyakarta," she said.
Another visitor, Anita, and her husband Zainal from Malang, said that they were visiting Gembira Loka for the first time. They brought their family to enjoy the zoo and also planned to visit other tourist attractions in Yogyakarta, such as the beaches in Gunungkidul and Malioboro. "We're happy to be here with our family and enjoy the zoo. We also plan to visit other attractions in Yogyakarta," Anita said.
According to Levina Anggraeni, the manager of Gembira Loka Zoo, the zoo has been crowded with visitors since the start of the long weekend and the Imlek and Isra Miraj holidays. The most popular attraction among visitors is the Petting Zoo, where children can interact with tame animals such as miniature horses, sheep, hamsters, and turtles. "Visitors, especially children, love to visit the Petting Zoo and interact with the animals. We also have a collection of Sumatran elephants and a water park that are popular among visitors," Levina said.
Levina added that the number of visitors to the zoo has increased dramatically during the holidays, with a 2-time increase in visitor numbers compared to regular days. "The Imlek and Isra Miraj holidays have brought a significant increase in visitor numbers, with up to 7,000 visitors per day, compared to the usual 3,000 visitors on regular days," she said.
Levina also emphasized the educational value of the zoo, where children can learn about animals and their behavior. "The zoo is not only a place for entertainment, but also a place for education, where children can learn about animals and their habitats," she said. (Raya Sanjiwani)
